Carefully seek the choicest kindling,
Not all is perfect, some is lacking.
But stacked beside the rest, 'tis prime
To build a blaze to last some time

Now 'tis lit though not yet ablaze
Fire needs air for flames to raise.
Whilst crackling wood would chime
Step away as warmth would climb

Though stray not too far nor too long
For left unchecked, she could smother
Or grow into the brightest of fires...

Such is the greatest neglectful wrong
As you'll miss the embers all together
And, too late, you'll be left sans pyre.

I had the urge and inspiration to write and this is the result. Just what came to mind, and as usual, it came in a kinda Petrarchan-esque style... but not exactly... and it's themed around fire, hence the title.

Impressive that you took an Italian Renaissance form. Intriguing.
